S.W. Motech Crash Bars Review – PTII A brief follow-up report on the bars
So after finally getting to take the bike off road for the first time we get to truly take the bars into their element. Some nice muddy and slick single track.
Now the 990 is not the ideal bike for this application so having appropriate protection is of paramount importance. On this ride the bars truly proved their worth. While riding along one section of the trail (due to rider error) the bars made an erroneous connection with a rather decent sized boulder. Immovable object meet stoppable object.
The bike ended upside down in the ditch on the side of the trail.
The bars performed perfectly and the bike (the tanks at least) came away without a scratch. The coating on the bars did pretty admirably as well, minor scuff but considering what it hit and how hard (I was going about 15mph) everything was cosmetic in nature.
More to follow, because I can guarantee these will be tested again…I know myself…..
