Flats Suck.

In a perfect world we wouldn't have to deal with changing a flat in the rain, in the dark, in the worst part of town/back country road/desolate area of Baja etc.  However our world isn't perfect and flats happen, deal with it.

The last part is the easiest, dealing with it.  I was sitting in my office surfing porn when Alex from Ride-On called and gave me a reason to get out of my chair and do some work.  We chatted for a bit and he explained how the product worked and can he send us  a sample to try out in the various project vehicle we have going on and i said sure, bring it.

A few days later a 5 gallon pail arrived along with a pump that looked like a bicycle pump on steroids, an instruction book (well written and concise) and a bag of tools straight from the movie Saw.  Dave tore open the bag and started reading the instructions (wimp) while I went about the serious work of photographing him (doing most of the work).

The Ride-On manual was very easy to understand and listed just about every type and size of tire imaginable, next to the tire size chart was the amount of Ride-On in ounces that you would have to install to make your tires flat proof.  It seemed almost too easy.

Follow along as we flat proof our tires allowing us to Ride-On!

If you don't want to experience this

Then you should install this!

The variety of tools included was nothing

short of amazing, if you needed it, it was here.

Its hard to tell in this photo however the pump had graduated lines to show how much

product was being pumped into the tire.  One full pump is 10oz.

For this particular application the brass fitting

 was all we needed

Ride-On even includes this handy valve core removal device.

After installing Ride-On air up to whatever you

normally run your tires at and drive away.

Final thoughts.

At the risk of offending you, if you are too stupid to figure this out

you should not be driving without supervision

The aforementioned manual.

Here's something you don't see very often.

Here is our very own Dual Sport Dave waiting for the tire to air down

The valve core removal device that is included can also be turned upside down

and used to deflate the tire before trying to remove it under high pressure.

For those of you who don't need the 5 gallon pail Ride-On

comes in a convenient two motorcycle tire size.

The right angle adapter used for motorcycle tires make installation a breeze

Ok so by now you're asking yourself how big of a hole will it seal?

BIG, 1/4", figure a ten penny nail, cactus thorn, CHP road spikes, the usual stuff.

Because our TOYO's are 37" tall we pumped 24oz's into each tire, the manual tells you that you will experience vibration or tire shimmy until the tire is evenly coated, this can be exacerbated by extreme cold.  I jumped in to take our Expedition for a spin and holy crap Batman what a death wobble!  I drove up and down my block slowly and then ventured out onto the main road and after about five miles the shakin, rattlin' and vibrations all went away.  85MPH down the 15 freeway and it felt like i had just had the tires balanced.

Below is a clip from Ride-On's site:

(Commercial High Speed™ Formula (CHS™) is a revolutionary gel that helps balance tires and turn them into self-sealing tires using fibers that are six times stronger than steel. CHS™ helps tires maintain their pressure up to 500% better than untreated tires. Properly inflated tires that are balanced run cooler and last longer. Less flexing, bounce and fatigue equals longer tire life - up to 25% or more! The CHS™ formula is designed for use in medium and heavy trucks, tractors, trailers, buses, roll-offs, street sweepers, tanker trucks, or any commercial vehicle that travels at speeds in excess of 30 mph.)
